かってむき【勝手向き】

1 〔台所に関わりのあること〕

●勝手向きのこと things to do with the kitchen.

2 〔暮らし向き･家計〕 household finances; one's (financial) circumstances.

●勝手向きがよい be well-off [well-to-do, well-fixed, well-heeled]; be in easy circumstances; live in comfort

・彼の家は勝手向きがよくなった. His circumstances have improved. | His family's better off.

・勝手向きがよくない[苦しい] be badly off; be in poor [needy, straitened] circumstances; having a tough time making ends meet.
